Team History

2016

Congratulations to Girls' Tennis for their fantastic performance at WCACs.  The team took second place overall and won several individual medals.  Mandy Hope won #4 singles, Kay Hope won #5 singles, Lisa Nguyen won #6 singles and Kay and Mandy Hope won #2 doubles.  All played amazing matches with few unforced errors, dictating each point from the start.   #2 Ronnie Gruseck and #3 Catie Mandable were runners-up in their draws.  They played excellent tennis and fought hard for every point, even during long rallies.  A shout out to our #3 doubles team of Chloe Martin and Emma Thompson for giving it their all in the semifinals; and to #1 Erica Markel and #1 doubles team Erica Markel and Ronnie Gruseck for playing in the toughest spots on the team and never giving .   Here's aWashington Post article on the WCAC finals and a video of the PVI/DJO match!

2015

In the 2015 WCAC Tournament Ronnie Gruseck, became #6 singles champion with a decisive 8-2 victory over Holy Cross.  Erica Markel and Chloe Martina became #3 doubles champions with a hard fought, 8-4 win over Good Counsel.  The team placed fourth overall in the WCAC  with 17 points.  There were no wins in the 2014 tournament.

2012 & 2013:  WCAC Finalist (2nd place)

The team played an outstanding  WCAC Tournament.  Mary Ellen Potter took home the gold at the number 3 singles.  Caroline Crisostomo and Mary Ellen Potter took  gold at the number 1 doubles.  Nora Howe and Alison Reyes took gold in the number 3 doubles.  Anna Markel earned a  silver medal for the number 2 singles and Sarah Thomas took silver for the number 6 singles.  All in all the team had a great tournament.  PVI placed second in the WCAC and was battling for first all the way. 

2012 VISAA All State Team:  D1 First Team Caroline Crisostomo, D1 Second Team Mary Ellen Potter.  Congratulations and way to go girls!

2011: WCAC Finalists (6-2)

2010: WCAC Champions (12-1)

The Paul VI Girls' Tennis Team won the Championship Title at the WCAC Tournament, defeating St. John's who held the title for the last four years. Earning the gold medal in their seed, thus earning the All-Conference First Team Award were senior Callie Wysor; freshman Mary Ellen Potter; freshman Anna Markel; sophomore Caroline Crisostomo and junior Lizzy Norcott in doubles and senior Callie Wysor and sophomore Nora Howe in doubles. Earning the silver medal in their seed, thus earning the All-Conference Second Team Award were junior Shelby Stohlman and junior Catie Daus. The team participated in the Virginia State tournament in November.
